The Problem.

Gearbox Express’ testing applications involve high levels of torque which require a coupling with a continuous torque rating of over 3 million in-lbs. This is enough torque to generate 1 megawatt of wind energy. In addition, the coupling needs to allow gearboxes to be changed efficiently while maintaining a high level of reliable performance. 

PSC’s Solution.

After reviewing the application details, PSC specified a Series 57-4628 coupling with a continuous torque rating of 3.125 million in-lbs. The coupling incorporates flanges that can be easily removed from the gearbox and the motor while leaving the center member assembly intact for quick changeover.

The coupling continues to provide reliable performance with quick changeovers which is allowing high uptime and low changeover times during operation.
